Claudia Lampert is a Senior Researcher at the Leibniz Institute for Media Research and studies the societal implications of digital transformation, with a particular focus on children and young people as well as health communication.
A central focus of her work is children’s and young people’s experiences of growing up in digital media environments. In projects such as EU Kids Online, SIKID – Safety of Children in the Digital World, and Connected Kids – Socialisation in a Changing Media Environment, she examines how changing media environments affect socialisation, media education, and everyday family life. Other projects, including CO:RE – Children Online: Research and Evidence and the Observatory for Young People in Digitised Societies, focus on synthesising and disseminating research findings on the evolving challenges of growing up in digitalised societies for diverse audiences.
Another key area of her research is health communication. In her doctoral thesis, she examined the potential of entertainment-education formats to promote young people’s health. Since then, she has studied health-related media content and formats (e.g. health apps, games for health), the health information behaviour and digital health practices of different target groups, as well as the opportunities and limitations of various communication channels for effective and evidence-based health communication.
