Abstract

Technology does not lead a life of its own – but neither do people. People and technology are not opponents. Technology is man-made and socially embedded, but subjectivities (body, consciousness, perception, needs) and sociality (e.g. organisations, communication, media, energy) are equally influenced by technology. As Marshall McLuhan observed, “We shape our tools and thereafter our tools shape us.”
