The findings show that what journalists themselves want to do is also what they ought to do in the eyes of the public: to report objectively, to analyse and classify, but also to promote tolerance and cultural diversity.<\/p>\n

The representative survey was carried out as part of this study and was sponsored by the ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Abstract (in German)<\/h2>\n

In diesem Arbeitspapier behandeln wir den Zusammenhang zwischen journalistischem Rollenselbstverst\u00e4ndnis und Publikumserwartungen an Journalismus.\u00a0Theoretisch modellieren wir dieses Verh\u00e4ltnis als Teil der reflexiven Beziehung zwischen Journalismus und Publikum, die durch mehr oder weniger kongruente gegenseitige Erwartungen gekennzeichnet ist. Mit einer repr\u00e4sentativen CATI-Umfrage (n= 1.000) ermitteln wir, welche journalistischen Aufgaben deutsche B\u00fcrger*innen als wichtig erachten und vergleichen diese Befunde mit den repr\u00e4sentativen Daten zum Rollenselbstverst\u00e4ndnis deutscher Journalist*innen, die in der Worlds of Journalism-Studie ermittelt wurden (Steindl et al. 2017). Kernst\u00fcck unseres Fragebogens ist eine in der Forschung etablierte Item-Batterie zu journalistischen Rollen, die wir an die Perspektive des Publikums angepasst und um neuere dialog-, partizipations-, transparenz- und l\u00f6sungsorientierte journalistische Aufgaben erg\u00e4nzt haben. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass das Verh\u00e4ltnis zwischen Journalist*innen und Bev\u00f6lkerung in Deutschland einen hohen Grad an Kongruenz aufweist. Was Journalist*innen vor allem tun wollen, ist auch das, was sie in den Augen der Bev\u00f6lkerung vorranging sollen: insbesondere objektiv berichten, analysieren und einordnen, aber auch die F\u00f6rderung von Toleranz und kultureller Vielfalt wurde von beiden Gruppen als vergleichsweise wichtig eingestuft.<\/p>\n

Auf Seiten der Bev\u00f6lkerung wird deutlich, dass diese mehr journalistischen Aufgaben Wichtigkeit zuspricht als Journalist*innen sie als Teil ihrer Arbeit betrachten. Nachrichteninteresse und Mediennutzung haben einen entscheidenden Einfluss darauf, f\u00fcr wie wichtig B\u00fcrger*innen journalistische Aufgaben erachten: Interesse an Hard News und die Nutzung von journalistischen Online-Medien haben einen positiven Einfluss darauf, f\u00fcr wie wichtig klassische journalistische Aufgaben erachtet werden.<\/p>\n
