Repository for Policy Documents. <a href=\"https:\/\/deu01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdoi.org%2F10.21241%2Fssoar.94211&amp;data=05%7C02%7Cc.matzen%40leibniz-hbi.de%7Cc5d7a05271d44c8ea0f608dc7a396fcc%7Cfebc0af1a9914670a3aa9d70a2c3569d%7C0%7C0%7C638519634313427534%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=hOpx%2Fe67bOXSJuUQXGiHAXj2w5ktjluTq7u0pMKdUbo%3D&amp;reserved=0\">https:\/\/doi.org\/10.21241\/ssoar.94211<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Theses on Translation between Science and Policy<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The fit between available knowledge and acute need for advice must be actively established.<\/li>\n<li>Personal trust in consulting can be least assumed when it is most needed.<\/li>\n<li>Coordination processes promote compatibility but can lead to a loss of autonomy and legitimacy.<\/li>\n<li>The need for confidentiality in politics conflicts with the ideal of public transparency in science.<\/li>\n<li>The presentation of complexity conflicts with the need for clarity.<\/li>\n<li>Policy advice requires resources that are often not fully available on either the supply or demand side.<\/li>\n<li>Impact is a decisive motivation for policy advice but is hardly tangible.<\/li>\n<li>Advisory documents from outside academia are important but should be treated with caution.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The thesis paper is the result of research accompanying the development of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hans-bredow-institut.de\/en\/projects\/repository-for-policy-documents-repod\">Repository for Policy Documents (REPOD)<\/a>, which has been online since May 2024 (<a href=\"https:\/\/repod.zbw.eu\/\">repod.zbw.eu<\/a>). The repository was created to make it easier for policymakers to find and use scientific documents from the scientific community for their decision-making. The joint project was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) from 1 February 2023 to 31 March 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The Leibniz Information Center for Economics (ZBW) was responsible for managing the project and developing the repository.
