Claussen, in den sp\u00e4ten 1960er-Jahren Student in Frankfurt am Main, f\u00fcgte seiner Charakterisierung des hessischen Generalstaatsanwalts jedoch sofort hinzu: \u00bb[\u2026] aber die Verfolgung seiner Pflichten n\u00f6tigte ihn dazu, \u00f6ffentlich \u00fcber die von ihm angeregten spektakul\u00e4ren Prozesse zu sprechen und in H\u00f6rfunk und Fernsehen, mit Aufs\u00e4tzen und Vortr\u00e4gen f\u00fcr eine Reformierung des Strafrechts zu k\u00e4mpfen. .\u00ab Der Soziologe Claussen ging noch weiter und urteilte: \u00bbFritz Bauer musste <em>contre c\u0153ur<\/em> aus dem sch\u00fctzenden Schatten der Privatheit eines <em>entre nous <\/em>heraustreten, um seinen Auftrag zu erf\u00fcllen, n\u00e4mlich Licht auf das Fortleben der M\u00f6rder unter uns zu werfen.\u00ab Die biographische Forschung unterstreicht das \u00f6ffentliche Wirken des Juristen mittlerweile durch vielf\u00e4ltige Publikationen. Zu den Editionen von Vortr\u00e4gen und kleineren Ver\u00f6ffentlichungen in Zeitungen und Zeitschriften gesellen sich seit 2014 die Ausgaben der \u00bbGespr\u00e4che, Interviews und Reden\u00ab aus den Fernseharchiven und seit 2017 ein H\u00f6rbuch mit Tondokumenten unter dem Titel \u00bbFritz Bauer. Sein Leben. Sein Denken. Sein Wirken\u00ab&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\u201cBauer did not enjoy being in the public eye,\u201d Detlev Claussen later recalled. Claussen, a student in Frankfurt am Main in the late 1960s, immediately qualified his characterization of the Hessian Attorney General: \u201c[\u2026] but the pursuit of his duties compelled him to speak publicly about the spectacular trials he had initiated and to campaign for reform of criminal law through radio and television appearances, as well as essays and lectures.\u201d The sociologist Claussen went even further, concluding: \u201cFritz Bauer had to step, contre c\u0153ur, out of the protective shadow of the privacy of an entre nous in order to fulfill his mission: to shed light on the continued presence of the murderers among us.\u201d Biographical scholarship has since underscored the jurist\u2019s public engagement through a wide range of publications. In addition to editions of his lectures and shorter writings published in newspapers and journals, the volumes of Conversations, Interviews, and Speeches, drawn from television archives, have appeared since 2014, followed in 2017 by an audiobook featuring original audio recordings entitled Fritz Bauer: His Life.
