Research-Based Knowledge Transfer and Social Cohesion

Cover Forschungsbasierter-Wissenstransfer-und-Gesellschaftlicher-ZusammenhaltThe first volume of a new publication series by the Research Institute Social Cohesion (RISC) has been published. It is dedicated to the question of how the mutual transfer of knowledge between research, civil society and politics can succeed. The volume discusses the methods used to research social cohesion today and the conditions under which research-based knowledge transfer can be used to answer social questions and problems.

Several colleagues from the HBI also contributed to the volume. Irene Broer, Louisa Pröschel, Jan-Hinrik Schmidt, and Wiebke Schoon present a discussion-oriented method of knowledge transfer in this format: the think tank. Academics discuss the importance of media and journalism for social cohesion with both experts and laypeople.
The volume is published by campus-Verlag and is available in its entirety as open access.

About the Series

The new publication series presents central impulses and research results from the RISC and is aimed at a broad social target group from science, politics, and the interested public. The individual volumes provide answers to the question of how social cohesion and its influencing factors can be understood and empirically measured or described and what conclusions can be drawn from this for politics and society. They also discuss the points at which the concept of cohesion and the societal conditions it describes need to be criticized and what can be learned from historical and global comparisons. The series is edited by RISC spokespersons Nicole Deitelhoff, Olaf Groh-Samberg, and Matthias Middell.
