Program Area 3 Science Communication, Agile Formats, and Library Services

Program Area 3—Science Communication, Agile Formats, and Library Services—provides services to researchers in Program Areas 1 and 2 and to the institute as a whole, as well as to its external network of partners and stakeholders and the interested public.

Program Area 3 consists of three teams:

  • The Science Communication team is responsible for press and public relations, editorial support for the journal “Medien & Kommunikationswissenschaft” and the HBI’s other publication series, the organization of public events (Lunch Talks; Media Lectures; Hamburg Media Symposium), and the management of social media channels, the Bredow Blog, and the BredowCast.
  • The Agile Formats Team is responsible for developing the agile formats “Sprint” and “Clinic”, which have been implemented, evaluated, and refined since 2026.
  • The Library Services Team combines the management and expansion of the library collection with new information science services, such as research data management and support for open-access publications for the HBI.
